The New York City-based owners of this second home in Bridgehampton hired our firm to oversee the complete renovation of the home’s three stories, creating a look that celebrated the tension point where city and shore meet.

The wife had been attracted to the large, mostly white spaces and wanted to maintain a traditional “Hampton coastal” vibe. The husband desired something more metropolitan, like a swanky Manhattan hotel. The juxtaposition of contemporary chic and classic comfort continues in every part of the residence, playing out differently each time. Overall, it’s the mingling of the refined with the informal that gives this project its fusion of energy and relaxed appeal, and that keeps the house from taking itself too seriously.
